Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about playing with us.

Arrival & Facility

Do I need to book a spot in advance?

Not at all. We operate entirely on a casual, drop-in basis, so there is no need to reserve a spot. You are welcome to simply turn up on the night.

What time should I arrive?

Most players arrive between 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM. There is no strict "start time," so feel free to arrive at any time and jump into a game.

What kind of facility do you play at?

We play in the multipurpose hall at Bundaberg Christian College. It has four courts and Polyurethane (PU) flooring.

Do you play during the day or over the weekend?

Our club typically only holds sessions during weekday evenings as we are limited by the availability of the hall and our volunteers. While we have played some sessions on the weekend, this is not something that occurs very often.

Equipment & Wear

What should I wear?

We do not have a specific dress code. We recommend comfortable sportswear that allows you to move freely.

Tip: Court shoes are recommended, but not required. Unlike running shoes, court shoes have lower-profile cushioning, wider and more stable sole bases, and non-marking rubber soles.
Are non-marking shoes required?

While many indoor venues require the use of non-marking shoes to protect the playing surface, this is not required for our facility.

Do I need to bring a racquet?

Not at all. The club has a number of spare racquets available.

Are shuttles provided?

Yes! Feather shuttles are provided by the club for everyone to use.

Gameplay & Skill Levels

I am a complete beginner. Can I still join?

Absolutely! We pride ourselves on being a welcoming club for all skill levels. Whether you are a seasoned player or have never held a racquet before, you are welcome here.

Do you offer coaching or training sessions?

We are primarily a social club, so we do not run coaching or practice sessions. However, our friendly members are always happy to help beginners learn the basics, rules, and techniques to get you playing comfortably.

Do you play singles or doubles?

To maximize participation, our standard format is doubles played to 21 points, before swapping out with other players. Some of our members do play singles games, but later in the evening when there are spare courts available.

Is the environment competitive?

We are a small, social club where the main goal is fun and fitness. While we enjoy a good game, the atmosphere is relaxed rather than intensely competitive.

Do you run competitions?

Our focus is on social play, but we do host the occasional friendly competition or fundraiser (usually once a year). For those interested in more competitive play, other clubs on the Sunshine Coast host several tournaments throughout the year which our members sometimes attend.

Membership & Payments

Can I try it out before joining?

Absolutely! Your first visit is always free, and you can return another night to play as a visitor ($10). From your third visit, however, we require that you become a member for insurance purposes.

How do I pay?

We accept Card (online), Bank Transfer, and Cash. You'll be prompted to select a payment method when signing in online.

Social & Community

Do you host social events?

Our weekly play nights are our main social event! We view our regular sessions as a chance to catch up and socialize while playing. We occasionally run special events, and these will always be posted about on our Facebook Page .
